Jay-Z said it best: It’s the Hard Knock Life. But he did not create the phrase that set the world on its ear. It was a sample from the infamous Broadway classic Annie, set to hit theaters Dec. 19.
The modern adaptation of the film, starring Oscar nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis (best known for her role as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild) and Jaime Foxx, is set to inspire a new generation of girls to ‘Love. Shine. Dance. Hope. Risk and Dream.’
Originally hitting the silver screen in 1982, Annie is the story of a red-headed orphan who, awaiting for her family to return and claim her, finds mischief around every corner of New York City and eventually a new family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks.
So, although it’s not the 1930s and this version of Annie is a little different, the magic of this classic tale will definitely capture the hearts of newcomers.
