Celebrating Black History with ASALH
Each year, the founders of Black History Month — the Association for the Study of African American Life and History or ASALH — present a unifying theme for the national celebration of Black History Month. This year’s theme, “At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: The Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington,” marks the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., ASALH’s mission is to research, preserve, promote and disseminate information about Black history. For more on ASALH, click here
