A UN call for girls: 11 days of action, Speak out make up Day of the Girl Summit

The United Nations is again doing its part to make sure girls’ voices are heard.

A virtual platform, the Day of the Girl Summit brings girls and girl-serving organizations together to celebrate the International Day of the Girl. With the theme Innovating for Girls’ Education, the event is a means to help highlight the importance of girls’ education.

The event will end with an all-day webcast that will feature more than 50 worldwide partners and sponsors of the summit.

Last year, over 3,500 people participated in the Day of the Girl Summit to share in the first ever International Day of the Girl on Oct. 11, 2012.

DayoftheGirlSummit.org is managed by the Day of the Girl Summit Steering Committee, which is led by Emily Bent and Rebecca Gaynier, and it includes members of the following organizations:
Girls Coalition of Southwestern Pennsylvania
iTwixie.com
Sage Girl
Women for a Healthy Environment
