Yasmine Arrington is the Founder & Executive Director of ScholarCHIPS, a 2012 Black Girls Rock M.A.D. Girl, 2012 Linowes Leadership Youth Recipient and the 2013 Julia West Hamilton League Humanitarian Award.

Now a sophomore at Elon University majoring in Communications and History, Yasmine started ScholarCHIPS when she was a junior in high school as a way to provides college scholarships and a support network for children of incarcerated parents, inspiring them to complete their college education.

CHIPS, an acronym that stands for Children of Incarcerated Parents.”My grandmother actually helped me come up with the name,” Arrington said. “It’s the idea that though these youth have a label, and a challenge in their lives, they are still smart, bright.Scholars. Hence the name, ScholarCHIPS.”
