Stepping Out: ideas for a fun night out or in
By Natalie Jordan
It’s your first date, and trying to plan that special event can be a bit distressing. Teens are usually anxious enough going out on a date without having to also come up with all of the details for a fun and interesting outing. The fact is the activity you pick for the date plays a big part in the date itself, and picking a great activity that both parties are comfortable with can make for a great date.
You and your date can do the typical date-night scene – you know, a movie, a bite to eat or a school dance. However, if you’re looking for something different, here are just a few ideas that are age-appropriate and full of fun.
Active Dates –
Bowling, miniature golf and the arcade are great options for getting you out and moving on your date. You could even go to a recreational center and race go-karts. If you want something a little less stimulating, you can walk around your city with your camera phones and snap photos of all your favorite places. Consider going to the park where you can bike, skate or go on a stroll. If you’re in a place with many people around, your parents will worry less, and you’ll have a chance to get to know each other better.
Your date is a great opportunity to learn something together. Go to a museum or wander around your city’s historic downtown. If you like flowers and trees, a public garden can be a great place to visit – especially in the spring. Don’t forget the zoo. That can be a fun place to visit, too.
Instead of going out, you could stay in to watch TV or play board games. If you have a Wii or PS3, play video games or one of the many interactive games such as “Just Dance.” You also could have an indoor picnic: Rent movies or turn on Netflix, spread out a blanket, grab snacks and just chill out. Add some friends and it’s bound to be a fun experience.
